Here’s how far I was on those slippers by Sunday night.

Yeah, over a month after ‘assigning’ them as a project! Monday I managed to get a 3rd sole done. Yeah a 3rd! These lovely things need 4 soles so they’re all soft and squishy for your feet. Trust me I debated leaving it at only 2 but I figured if I was working this hard on these things I was going to make darn sure I’d be wearing them until they fell off my feet in tatters!

I’ve spent about 12 hours on them so far. 12 hours painstakingly counting and redoing = 3 soles. *sigh*

Onto last weeks assignment. Today I got together with a friend and cut out 36 pieces to make the alphabet A-Z and some for numerals 1-10. 36 8 x 8 pieces and 36 5 x 5 pieces are ready to go. Sadly they aren’t assembled yet.

Allow me to forge ahead and add on a project for this week (it appears I’ve got some sewing to do this weekend!). I ordered some vintage hankies yesterday while browsing around Etsy and some were from this shop. She sent me the link to her very new blog but I love this sachet tutorial. I’ve got a pile of lavender left over from my eye pillow project and this will be a great way to use them up. Plus they’ll make nice little gifts for some lovely ladies and they’ll use fun scrap bits too!

So then the lucky ladies who win 4 of my smaller spots are, Brianna (gee you’re lucky!), Vanessa (I’m so glad #1 came up, I feel like you deserve something for being first), Katrina and Tori Elizabeth.

I’m catching my flight home in the morning and so I’ll probably be out of touch for a day. Please check your emails and send me the images and links and I’ll plunk those up first chance I get. I’ll probably be snuggling my lappy on the couch with blankets attempting to keep warm after being plunked back into a Canadian January!

Ok, I have to admit I’ve been a terrible blogger this week but if you were where I am you’d totally understand. It’s absolutely gorgeous here and I’ve been far to busy during the day and collapsing in sun drenched exhaustion at night to be a good blogger.

That said, I’ve also been neglectful seeking out January sponsors. So I’d like to just be nice and giveaway some spaces. I’ll hand out 5 spots for over there in my sidebar. Now since tomorrow is January 1st, and I’ll be in bed waaaay before midnight I’ll leave this open for 24ish hours (I’m on Belize time, things move slowly here) and then I’ll pick 5 lucky people. Woohoo! It’s so nice, and it’s hot, and it’s ridiculously sunny and it’s not even 10 pm and I’m totally exhausted!

Guess I write a real post tomorrow.

Well we usually do this travel-don’t travel cycle over the Holidays. We’ve kept it up for a while US, home, England/Portugal, home, home (Nate was born December 23rd), England/Spain, home and now this year will be Belize!

The terrible bit is our flight leaves on December 23rd at 6am and so we have to be awake at ridiculous o’clock. Making traveling with a 5 and newly 3 year old less fun than it would have been!

However, that said, while I’m enjoying some hopefully nice warm sunny weather I’m not sure what sort of internet connection I will have and I could use some guest posts!! I usually don’t post on the weekend so that means I need 5 people to be brave and send me some fun posts. It could be about the holiday aftermath, new year plans, recipies, goals/resolutions, whatever, just something fun so tumble weeds don’t blow through my blog while I’m away.

Okie so here’s my doily table runner. Now I said last week this was super easy, “just get some doilies and sew them together”. Well I had a harder time than I thought. I fussed and fussed with the layout and even as it is I’m still not 100% happy. But you can always add more on the ends . . . . or something.

I really like how it looks on our dark table. Just have to work on getting the ripples out.

So I know I’ve blabbed about Keyka Lou and her patterns before but she also has some free tutorials and things you can learn on her site. I’ve got fabric and zippers set aside for this dumpling project already so let’s give it a whirl.

I gave Wesley a marker and had him draw on his pumpkin and then I cut it out. It was pretty neat to see what he did with it. So cool that he’s old enough to participate more. Nate just told us what we wanted on his pumpkin, perhaps next year he’ll be more into it too. I got a little silly with my pumpkin and decided to have it eating poor little pumpkins.
