Where’s SewTara?

Ok I have some linky love to share.

The lovely Janee has done a little interrogation post all about me, complete with bed head photo.  And of course there’s a giveaway involved as well.  So head over and enter before Friday!

If you’re a creative blogger, or have just been reading creative blogs for a while you probably already saw Scoutie Girl’s interview with Leigh-Ann from Freckled Nest but I wanted to point it out. It’s full of some great backstory on the growth of Freckled Nest and ideas if you’re on a mission to grow your own crafty empire. My favourite part was this behind the scenes photo in the interview, LA hard at work shooting my blog banner!

Amy has re-emerged with a fun new site, Amy is the party.  She’s featuring guest posts all this week.  It’s all summer themed to get you all geared up for some summery fun.  My DIY post will be up Saturday.

Annnnnnd I had a bit of a brain wave and wandered over to Spoonflower and turned my block background image into some fabric!  I’ve ordered a test swatch to see how it goes.  It’s hard to tell from the image on the screen just how it will look in person.  Very excited to get it!

Waiting for inspiration to strike.

Lately I’ve been building a little fabric stash. Really that’s a nice way of saying I’ve become addicted to picking up fun nifty prints, whether I have a use for them or not. That can be a dangerous thing. When I started my blog and began reading other crafty creative blogs for some crazy reason I went all the way back to the beginning of LA’s blog, Freckled Nest and read it all. Like all all. It was kind of a fast forward glimpse of her growing. I loved these crafty bags she embroidered and/or personalized  in her Etsy shop.

But of course because I was late getting to the party she was long done selling them. I really wanted one though. So I sent her an email and asked where she got them from. Then I spent ages trying to track one down. Shipping from the States was ridiculous at the one place I did find them. LA said she got them from Princess Auto but I guess it was so long ago they no longer carry them. A little while later LA randomly emailed me that she had found one in her giant pile of long forgotten craft supplies and offered to sell it to me. It arrived wrapped in wallpaper and I was super excited.

So here’s mine. I’m too afraid to do anything to it! It’s this beautiful blank slate and I’m worried about goofing it up. So there it is, plain and wonderful, like one of my awesome cuts of fabric that I’m scared to cut into. Anyone else have supplies that you’re too afraid to actually use?

Need a pin cushion?

I sure don’t!

Thanks to LA‘s tutorial way back when and an addiction that seems to have returned (probably due to a growing pile of fun scraps) I’ve created a few pin cushions. I think I’ll need to go around in September when I’m back at work and find out who sews or crafts and start giving them away!

Playing along, at last.

Joining in on the fun thanks to Freckled Nest.

1. Favorite hobby?

Things I do here. It used to be papercrafts but now I’ve moved more into things that involve fabric, sewing and embroidery.

2. Favorite tv show?

I think I have to be lame and claim a tie right now.

3. Favourite restaurant food?

Anything spicy and not something we could make ourselves (or at least not as well as the restaurant).  Pad thai is fantastic . . . . and naan freshly made at the restaurant . . . . and fattoush . .

Source (and recipe!)

4. Favorite thing to shop for?

Books!!! Books!!! Books!!! Right now they all seem to be sewy or crafty books.

5. Favorite animal?

I love giraffes! I’ve got the perfect picture I took at the zoo one day.

6. Favorite song?

I’m all about soundtracks lately.  This is pretty much on repeat in the van, otherwise the Wiggles get requested.

7. Favorite word?

I make words up a lot, I figure years of university to get an English degree gives me the right. I’ve always liked words that are fun and silly to say, French has a bunch of those, like ananas and pamplemousse. Then I found these guys, which makes pamplemousse an even cooler word!

8. Recent favorite youtube video?

We’ve been sharing childhood favourite with our son. It’s fantastic to watch him crack up with the giggles over things that made us laugh too. This one has been asked for many times.

9. Favorite movie?

10. Favorite childhood memory?

Meet Sparky, he’s my big pink elephant. My mom’s bff gave him to me pretty much the day I was born, I’ve still got him. I spent a HUGE part of my life cuddling him at night while i slept. Once when I was little I remember having to go to bed without him and being so upset. I remember my mom bringing him in to tuck him under my arms when he came out of the laundry. He was still all warm and smelled like Sunlight, it was awesome. Even in my sleepy state it was great.

Another online class perhaps? And surprises in the mail!

I’m already on my second online crafty sort of class for 2010 so why not add another one.  This class is happening and seems like fun.  So I’m blogging about it on the off chance I get lucky and win a free spot!

In other fun news today I got mail!!! My lovely pin cushion arrived thanks to LA’s swap. My partner was Brandy of Pinkzombies. She sent me my cute new pin cushion and some other fun goodies. I really like the ‘boys are yucky pin’.
