I’m trying to be here.

The past, oh almost 12 months, have been kinda crazy for me. Things have been going on that essentially mean I should be changing my Facebook relationship status but instead I just let it be hidden months ago so I wouldn’t have to face this possibility.

So instead I’ll dip my toe in the water and kinda sorta spill the beans here. Maybe that means I’ll work up to something bigger. Maybe I’ll just keep saying nothing elsewhere, and certainly in ‘real life’.

Here is good for me. It’s good for you sometimes too because I might be struck with a brilliant idea or give some cool stuff away, or host a swap (totally plan to do that in the next few weeks). So yeah, thanks for reading and stalking me in other ways. This whole SewTara thing really helped me find myself again at a time when I needed it most.

Easy Peasy Necklace organization

I finally got around to making this little fellow for my growing accessories collection.

I picked up the plaque at Michael’s, it’s just one of those plain wood ones. Then I screwed in some hooks here and there, painted it a fun colour and stapled some baker’s twine to the back!

Nail in wall and voila!

Mitten Bay

I have no clue where it is but I want to live there.

Found these at a thrift store in Kensington Market in Toronto. Also, why didn’t I have a Hoedown in Grade 1?!

Next mission is an authentic looking shirt to stitch on this collection. Oh and expand the collection too.

Magnet oops giveaway.

So I mentioned making magnets and sometimes while crafting things go a bit wrong.

These lovely magnets are indeed, lovely, however they have a few bumps and bruises.

A few have spots on the back where the fabric didn’t quite catch in the button machine. And while this doesn’t effect the look from the front, or the fact it’s still a magnet they’re a touch substandard for selling. Soooo I’ve decided to do some clearing out and give them away. They’ll be fine holding things onto magnetic surfaces and with normal use. If you start poking at that little sticky outtie bit of fabric it’s going to fray and possibly peel off the magnet.

So if you would like to win either the 7 little magnets or the 7 big magnets leave a comment below! I will choose 2 lucky people and get them mailed out next week. Leave a comment before Friday, March 22nd. I’ll draw the winners on the weekend and send the emails!

Magnet crazy!

Well I went a little nuts over the March Break making and packaging magnets.

It was easy work, just time consuming, and it resulted in me taking over the kitchen table many times while the kids played with friends or came in for a game or snack.

I just used some little baggies and cut some cardstock to fold over and staple. Then I use a MOO sticker to cover the hideousness of a staple. Pretty simple and easy. Now I just need to order more stickers. I use the MOO MiniCards for giving away SewTara magnets, price tags and just usual business cars. I love their stuff.

Since it’s March Break and I have a 10 day stretch of no school I’ve been taking over parts of the house.

The kitchen table has fallen victim the most.

I’ve been working on small projects, hair clips and more magnets. If you follow me on my Instagram I’ve been moving around and creating various things.

Haven’t really hit the sewing machine yet since that’s in the basement and at least, even if my nose is buried in my crafting, I feel like I’m there for the kids. They’ve been enjoying the break by playing wii, having friends over, mastering Angry Birds on the iPad . . We have also hit swimming, gone for walks and hit indoor play places. So I’m going to say the break isn’t going too badly so far!

I have a new love.

It’s ModCloth. My dress collection is expanding.

An Apple a Day Trip Dress in Plus Size

An Apple a Day Trip Dress in Plus Size

This one just arrived today. It’s ridiculously perfect, great print, it’s super soft and it happens to fit me perfectly.

Encircled in Sweetness Dress

Encircled in Sweetness Dress

I picked this one up a little while ago. I had it in my cart and everything but it sold out before I checked out. Then I waited for what seemed like forever, I assumed it was out of stock for good. Then one day I got the ‘Hey an item you want is back in stock!” email. I’m pretty sure a purchase was never made faster.

About the Artist Dress

About the Artist Dress

I’ve owned this one for months and months. The strange thing is I have a 3x in this dress and it’s snug while I have 1xs in the other dresses *shrug* So check the measurements, descriptions and reviews as they’re really helpful for helping you make the right size choice.

Because ModCloth has new stuff daily it’s really hard not to check it out constantly. Right now, after having lost over 40 pounds, I’m still in the 1x size but if I happen to drop down some more I’m in big trouble because then I’ll be able to fit into more of the things they sell, might be dangerous. That’s also why it’s probably best I don’t know how the shoes would fit . . .

Insert productivity here

Today was the last day of school before March Break!

I’ve now got tomorrow and aaaaallll next week off from work!! Yipee!

There will be creating.
There will be blog posts.
There will be a swap of some sort.
There will be photos.
There will be . . . well content.

I promise.

But right now there’s going to be tea, dark chocolate and the end of a movie . . . .

I made a pillow!

I took all those pretty scraps I tweeted about over and over that my friend Tabatha *gave* me and pieced together a pretty pillow case.

I wanted to sleep on something pretty. Might make happier dreams or something.

More scrappy wallets.

Yep, I made some. Pattern available from Michelle Patterns, link at top right.
