Monthly Archives: July 2010

Mid New Year’s resolution!

Here I was earlier this month worried about what cake I could make my hubby for his birthday to top the over 150 000 hits the image of his cake got last year! All I had to do was make a pillow apparently. So I pledge to end up posting something fun to the wonderful internet each year that will get oodles and oodles of hits.

I’ve accomplished my mission for 2010. Now I’ll just make fun stuff for the rest of this year and worry about 2011 in January. Here’s my latest creation. It makes me giggle.

Oh I’m not sure I’ll have a Friday find. I’ve been caught off guard this week and haven’t really had time to think/search the web.

Triple Double Rainbow pillows!

Apparently my double rainbow pillow has been making some rounds on facebook!  Now it’s like domninoes, my etsy store is getting some link love.  I’m getting emails asking me to make more.  As I list them they’re selling!  It’s crazy!

Thanks Facebook, as if you didn’t already steal enough of my time guess what I have to do all weekend!  :)

Need a pin cushion?

I sure don’t!

Thanks to LA‘s tutorial way back when and an addiction that seems to have returned (probably due to a growing pile of fun scraps) I’ve created a few pin cushions. I think I’ll need to go around in September when I’m back at work and find out who sews or crafts and start giving them away!

Vintage sheet fun!

My in laws are doing some renovating and I noticed some old sheets in the basement protecting the wine from all the dust.  So I went ahead and asked for them!  They’re a little beat up, used for painting drop sheets in the past it appears but I’m hoping to find some usable chunks of fabric.

I’m hoping I can get a skirt out of those, or at least one of them.

This one is just awesome!  It was stuffed into a vent in the ceiling and appears to have some moldy spots on it hopefully I can still get some fun use out of it.

Friday Find – Creative Inspiration

At first I was just going to find a bunch of fun images and post those but things changed. I googled, ‘creative inspiration’ and found some neat stuff. Strangely it took a while before I found THE Creative Inspiration. It’s sort of like We Heart It like images only, in my opinion, less overwhelming. Good for a quick visit and perhaps some inspiration. Here are a few of my favs, click images for original posts on Creative Inspiration and sources.

It’s Friday, go waste some time on their site!

More me and giveaways!

Sheesh it’s getting busy around here, blogs, creating, shop updates, giveaways . . . more giveaways!  Head over to Wild Olive for a neat little giveaway I’m hosting.  You could win this lovely passport pocket!  You can’t tell but there’s a little pouch on the back for your boarding pass and such.

I’ll even stitch a letter on it for you to make it all personalized like.

Curse you Handmade Beginnings, and my creative brain!

I’ve been crazily crafting lately!  I think of something, make it, and as I’m finishing or ironing or stitching new ideas about it pop into my mind, modificiations/enhancements/things to change . . . OR just a whole other project idea entirely!! It’s hurting my head.  It’s also starting to take it’s toll.  Last night, despite promising myself, ‘just 1 more show while I craft’ I ended up heading to bed at about 1am.  Which is ok if your 19 month old doesn’t wake you up at 6:20 :/  I’m hoping I can just keep going until my sleep in day on the weekend, at this rate it will need to be Saturday.

So here are some of the things occupying my time.

I’ve also been working on passport covers.  Not sure what lead me in that direction, I suppose I want to travel.  In the past 5 years I’ve been to so many places – Cuba, the Netherlands, Egypt, England (a few times), France, Germany, Spain on the last day of school everyone was asking me where we were going over the summer and I said ‘nowhere’.  People were surprised.  We were in England and Spain last December but I hadn’t returned to work yet so they didn’t really know about it.  So I suppose instead of traveling this summer I’ll feel like I am and create us some cute passport pockets, and some for my shop!

Made these for my boys, the print is super cute it’s all full of Canadian things, maple leaves, beavers, moose, fish, and landscapey things it’s super fun.  I’m making Nate some reversible pants out of it as well.

Initially I made this one for me but now I’m amending my design and might have to create another one for me.

The little cut out felt is for a monogram but I’m not sure where to place it without covering a cute animal peeking out!

More crafty book must haves

Oh August release dates, what will you do to my credit card?

*sigh*

Double Rainbow geekery and a shop update.

I’ve got waaaaay too many ideas right now for the amount of hours that are in a day! I can’t keep up. But I’m trying really, really hard.
Of course that means staying up silly late after the kids are in bed to finish things. Last night I managed to tidy up the ends of a few projects and today I actually accomplished listing them in my store even! I feel like I done good. Here’s some of the things I listed.

My double rainbow pillow.

Little Red tea bag holder/cozy

Very Cherry clutch

Tea Time tea bag holder/cozy

Hoping to get another idea or two out of my head tonight!

Annnnd the winner is!

Thank you everyone for leaving a comment and of course to Julie for being so wonderful and agreeing to donate an item to some crazy stranger who just emailed and asked.

Onto the winning! I was going to have someone in my house help me with this but it appears I’m the only one still awake! Then I was going send a chat message to a friend online demanding a number between 1-13 (Corinne commented twice, one was Julie and 1 comment was me) but I’m not getting an answer. Annnnd I’m too lazy to go get the camera and do an artsy names-written-on-paper-in-a-bowl kinda thing. So I googled the thing everyone else seems to use on their blog and went with that!

Therefore the winner is #, and that makes it . . . (here’s me flipping to the other tab to count comments!) . . . HEATHER!!!! Congrats! Now you’re going to have to decide on your favourite after all. I’ll send you details.

This was so much fun, I think I’m going to have to do more of these. Beware local to me indie crafters!
