Scraps! Yes, I’m a scrap addict.

Well I fell victim to ordering some scraps again. These ones are from Michelle Patterns and I always love her fabric choices, all the ones she posts about on her blog and of course her patterns. So whenever I catch that she has a scrap pack for sale I usually end up buying it.

I’ve already cut a bunch up for some scrappy wallets and set aside the small bits for magnet making. Now that I’m caught up on all my orders I intend to do some fun sewing. What a coincidence school is almost out.

Seriously, fabric with poodles *and* strawberries. How cute is that?!

What was I thinking!

So I commited to making messenger bags for my sons, and I will. However, last night I got cutting out all the fabric and there’s 30+ pieces for each bag!! Batting, interfacing, lining, exterior . . . oh my!

It’s Thursday night, here’s an phone photo of how far I am. Guess I’ll be revealing next Friday. Fingers crossed I’ll have 2 done.

Garden Gnomes

I’m published again! This book was recently released by Forklore Publishing and one of my cup cozy patterns is included. It’s a DIY book all about Garden Gnomes! There are some really fun projects included and they use a wide variety of materials. There are a bunch of contributors as well. Click this link for a peek at the projects, click here to purchase. There’s a print version that comes with the digital one for free, or you can buy just the digital.

Giveaway Day!!

Yipee!! It’s giveaway day!!

So I’m going to give away a scrappy wallet! Just like the ones in the photos, but I’ve got to make it still. I promise it will be super fun and wallety. Leave your entry below and make sure there’s a way for me to contact you. The winner will be chosen at the end of this week.

Challenge accepted.

Lately I’ve been bothered by unfinished projects lying around. They sort of eat at the back of my head and nibble away, annoying me. It’s sort of like how you make resolutions, or unrealistic goals and they end up just bothering you rather than inspiring you. This weekend it’s been my scrap bin that’s driving me batty.

Last night I had the idea to sew from my scrap bin all week. I didn’t set a Create Along goal for Friday since this week is busy for me but I do vow to go to my scrap bin for every project I tackle.

See it’s HUGE! I’ll keep you posted.

Friday Create Along

Ok first order of business is picking the lucky giveaway winner! Aaaaannnnd it’s Lee! Congrats Lee, Cristina has your info and will contact you. Have fun getting all pretty.

Next up is the addmission that I’m not done my camera pouch yet. I was on the second to last step last night and I can’t get the project to reach my needle! The arm part of my machine is just a touch too long for the project to slide up so I can stitch it. I tried as best as I could but when I turned it righside out there’s spots where the stitching didn’t catch all the layers. I’m going to check with some neighbours to see if their machine’s have shorter arm pieces and I’ll be able to slip the pouch on. I choose the small pattern, guess I shouldn’t have! Reveal coming soon.

If anyone has this please find a way to share!

Well today my Martha appearance aired. My friend from all events Etsy, Amy of TinyGiraffe, says we were in the first 20 minutes quite a few times.

Here’s my professional shot from the end of the show. It’s posted on the Martha Stewart site. I’m hoping they get everyone’s picture up, I really wanted to check everyone out.

We watched a How To by this lovely lady and we were given her book along with some materials to give it a try.

Covert robin goodies.

My gifts arrived a while ago, like a few weeks, I’ve just been so busy with life, sewing and trips to NYC that I haven’t had time to get back to writing about it!

You may recall I made these great sewing kits and sent one to my Covert Robin partner Cassie.

Here are the goodies that arrived for me. And I am ridiculously embarrassed because I cannot find her blog or anything useful to link back to her! Grrrrr.

An awesome little tote, a t-shirt scarf (had never seen/heard of one of those before) and a great pin cushion mason jar full of crafting odds and ends.

I love the sketchy look of the bunting with colourful scraps and the free form stitching.

Friday Create Along

Whew. Ok so here’s my completed NapKitten hamburger wallet thingie. (honestly, I talk like that, meet me I’ll prove it)

It’s cute, but it’s also ridiculously wonky. I had a hard time with this one. I’ve completed 3 NapKitten patterns and I love them all. The wallet was just involved, the phone pouch is super easy and fun, and this . . . I’m not sure what I did but it’s embarassingly crooked and made. I think I choose thick fabrics and because of that I should have bypassed the fleece inside. I might get brave and try another.

The two zippers were interesting to work with, and the assembly is interesting. I, as usual, didn’t read the instructions all the way before starting and the whole time I was thinking “it looks all unfinished inside, how’s it going to get all pretty in there?” then I saw you have to cover it all with bias tape that you make yourself. Bias tape is sort of my nemesis. So for now it’s pretty thready in there.

I’m not done my Keyka Lou camera pouch, which is sad because I have a 9am flight to NYC and I was hoping to pack and pad my camera but oh well. Life sort of got in the way of sewing this week! Silly life. There’s always next week.

Friday Create Along

Well it’s sort of half a Create Along really since I have no reveal. This week I’m just announcing the next project. In honour of having NapKitten Patterns here as a sponsor this month I’d like to take this opportunity to tackle another one of her patterns.

I’m going to attempt this Cute Hamburger. Previously I’ve made the wallet (in my first Create Along!) and the iPhone sleeve, here’s my version.

I love the fabrics she uses and the whole Japanese inspired design of her patterns. Hope you’ll join me!
