Happy Halloween!

Hope you’re all having a great evening! Here’s some pics of our Jack-o-lanterns we made last night. I’ll be sure to post the costume pics tomorrow.

I gave Wesley a marker and had him draw on his pumpkin and then I cut it out. It was pretty neat to see what he did with it. So cool that he’s old enough to participate more. Nate just told us what we wanted on his pumpkin, perhaps next year he’ll be more into it too. I got a little silly with my pumpkin and decided to have it eating poor little pumpkins.

It appears I never claimed my own blog.

Pardon me while I do just that.

Adding a button on the right so you can now follow my blog with Bloglovin’

Also feel free to use the Google connect thingie. I only added it recently and it’s a lame number.

Mooooo

Well I like MOO and MOO likes me (more on that exciting news later) and I had a hard time figuring out how to display my magnet sets. Eventually I just went with the boring little plastic bag and paper thing. But some MOO stickers helped to jazz it up, and cover the staple.

This pyrex dish has become one of my favourite display items.

I also loaded up on Mini MOO cards recently and since I’ve spent time sitting at 2 events recently I tagged and priced everything. I feel so organized.

I’ve always carried brown paper bags for my customers and I usually stamp them. This time I decided to put some stickers on the outside and put the stamp on the inside, like a little surprise when you open the bag.

Display peeks

Oh hello. Sorry for not being here yesterday. I did this really silly thing, I was holding a door open for someone and once she went through I went to walk out and basically punched a pole with that automatic door opener button on it. I heard cracks and crunches. It wasn’t even my knuckle that connected, it was my finger. Anyhow, it wasn’t good. I taped 2 fingers together to minimize motion, but my right hand was pretty useless last night. So today I have a slightly less sore hand and a lame story to tell.

Last week I was at a rather classy event, I had a giant table and when I arrived I was worried about being able to fill it but once I got unpacking I learned I’ve been making a lot lately! NOTE *lighting in a banquet hall is pretty craptacular, I’ve done the best I could*

I had a load of coin purses.

A bunch of clutches and pouches.

My magnet sets did really well, which is great considering the cost of my button machine, and I had some SewTara magnets on hand to give out.

I also took along a bunch of the kid stuff I’ve had since I started my crafty endeavour. I have done some mom & baby type shows but then I fell into cup cozies and other things.

I’m pretty sure I was the brightest display there. And a bit eclectic.

Please take a moment to take the tour

Well, despite my lack of technical behind-the-scenes skills I have made some changes to my blog that I’m pretty darn proud of! I have to admit that maybe my computer programmer hubby may have helped . . . anyhow humour me and do some clicking will ya?

I decided to call my Friday ‘join to in crafting’ thingie a ‘Create Along’ since somewhere in the future I may pick something that doesn’t involve sewing. Over there on the left I added a button (an adventure in photoshop) if you click it you are whisked away to a list showing all the projects already featured. It’s only 3 right now but man are they awesome. If you have any ideas for a project, or your own tutorial or pattern you think I might enjoy trying send me an email!

I’m embarking on the great journey of sponsorship and had another adventure in photoshop to make the lovely little button on the right. If you’re interested in having your blog or shop advertised in my sidebar go ahead and click. November is going to be fun around here.

And lastly I changed things up under DIY on the navbar, it did weird things and just pulled up entire posts. Thanks to my hubby and the magic of html tables, or something, there’s now a lovely collection of my DIY posts. I’ve got almost all of them in there now, just beware some of the older ones are from my old blog format and before I learned the magic of taking photos in natural light.

If something doesn’t work let me know, I think I’ve done properly.

I’m over here, until Friday.

You can win one of my scrappy cozies. I’ll make it special for you. Check out Janee’s blog.

I’ll also be over at My Girl Thursday taking part in her group giveaway post on . . . well what a coincidence, Thursday!

Recent acquisitions

Aren’t packages in the mail just the best??

I also ordered from one of my favourite Etsy shops, This and That From Japan. I was hoping to turn these cute little circles into buttons and magnets but I think they’re a touch too big for my button machine. Guess I’ll have to sew something fun up instead.

Wheee!

Ok, I got the most amazing scraps in one of my scrap swap packages. I can’t even begin to tell you how awesome the pieces were and how great they fit with the fun fabrics I love! Not to mention she threw in some fun stuff left over from when she ran a Japanese store online.

Here’s some eye candy.

Some of these Japanese prints are amazing! I don’t know if I can bring myself to cut them up and actually sew with them.

This one is great but I’m totally baffled on what it’s about. Must be another strange Japanese fairy tale, seems to be a lot of people on fire in those.

Anyhow, I’m smitten with the contents of this package. And remember to store your strawberries in a DRAY place.

Lunch bag reveal.

I’m such a nut. So I sat down with the pattern I intended to use for my lunch bag loaded up on my iPad, read the materials, gathered them up and then read the finished size and said to myself “Oh that’s too small!” and wandered off to do my own thing. Welcome to the way I sew my friends. I’m a terrible pattern follower. The truth is out. I’ll share the dimensions I used soon.

So onto my awesome lunch bag.

I used some of that wonderful elephant print I had lying around and matched it up with some red $1 bargain cut from a quilting shop, and some aqua damask. I had a piece of handle bits that was just the right size.

I used iron in interfacing and recycled some fleece I had lying around for the padding.

It’s a big hit at school!

Oh hello again

I think I’ve been having some trouble getting out of ‘cottage’ mode. I apologize. Here’s the winner of the 3 Mabel’s Labels tag mates and stickers.

Here’s a play by play of the very technical choosing. I think I interrupted something.

“Hey Nate can you help Mommy?”

Stare

“Pick a piece of paper please”

“This one Mommy”

Annnnnd back to playing.

The whole thing took about 10 seconds. Congrats to Nancy for winning the Mabel’s Labels day 3 giveaway.
