I’ll be sharing the love this week

I have a bunch of things photographed and tons of posts to write. I decided to share some thing by sharing some link love this week. So the next 5 days will be spent doing just that.

To kick it all off here’s a glimpse at some of the great accessories I’ve been accumulating recently. I’ve suddenly fallen in love with brooches and pendants and I’ve acquired a nice collection.

I made these 2, I’m particularly proud of the deer one. I bought a clearance pendant and yanked out the middle, the I cut a fun piece of fabric to fit inside. I glued it down with some Modge Podge, this seems to seal the fabric a bit, then I poured Dimensional Magic on top. DM is finicky, one moment it’s all nice and air bubble free, the next moment you look back and it’s like ninja bubbles have appeared. I tend to pour it in when I know I’m going to be sitting right there crafting so I can watch it. I seem to have about an 80% success rate with which pendants turn out, I’m happy this one worked out so beautifully.
The owl was a no brainer, I picked up all the pieces at Michael’s and just put it all together.

Friday Create Along

I used Noodlehead’s tutorial . . . well, kinda. I used it as inspiration and then went on to make up my own cases for my kids. While I loved the little buttons for tires idea I decided to go with monograms instead. The boys were really excited about them this morning, Nana just gave them some new markers and crayons so they have place to put them now.

I’m going to be simple and practical for the next project. These tooth fairy pockets that were shared on Heartmade Blog. Wesley has already lost a tooth and the one beside it is loose so this will come in handy for sure.

Washi swatches

One day I plan on doing that lovely thing where you cover all your laptop keys in fun bright patterned washi tape. But first I have to diversify my collection a bit. I’m hoping I’ll be able to find some in person in NYC so I turned the middle page of my little ‘ideas on the go’ notebook into a washi swatch spot.

Already my usual storage spot is overflowing, time for something else.

In case you haven’t heard,

I’m going to Etsy, not the site (I do that many times on a daily basis) but the actual building in Brooklyn, New York! If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you’ve already heard this, a few times, but now I’m sharing it here.

I applied to the Etsy Success Symposium and was invited to attend. It’s super exciting. Of course it also left me scrambling with a way to get to Brooklyn for the weekend, but that’s ok. I’ll have some time to wander Brooklyn and the surrounding area.

If anyone knows any fun, cool, crafty, creative, inspiring or ‘things not in Canada’ things I should do or see I’d welcome suggestions. I’ve been to NYC 3 times already, plus I’m not really into traditional touristy things. I’d rather find some fun fabric, or washi tape, or an awesome place to sit and have a tea with wifi and a comfy chair!

Pet Month

I’m taking part in Pet Month over at Meremade this month. Things are already underway but here’s schedule of some of the events that have happened and will be happening.

Frankie and tea.

I had a silly idea the other day and decided to execute it. Here’s the result.

It’s super silly, but so adorably funny too! Yes, he wraps all the way around.

I also made this one, someone requested a custom order before the holidays for a cozy like this and I thought it would make a good tea drinker’s cozy.

The only thing is, and I’m not sure if this is just spending too long knowing Mollie, but I’m really leaning towards putting a cute little face on that tea cup. Opinions?

Create Along catch up.

Well I’ve got a few projects to catch up on and I plan to use my March Break week off to tidy up all these loose ends! I got a little sidetracked this week once I found out I was accepted to the Etsy Success Symposium and had to make travel plans. I was also excited about the break and I booked myself a night away at a spa.

My hubby was super nice this past birthday and booked me a night away at the spa and it was glorious! Ste Anne’s has 2 locations and the location I was at is in a big huge beautiful old manor house and it was incredible.

The rooms have names, my room was Arthur.

In September the weather was unseasonably warm and so I got to make the most of my visit making use of the pool and amazing front porch.

When you book a night you get 4 meals, they serve dinner, breakfast, lunch and tea.

This time I’m heading to the larger location. I can’t wait!

My new iPad cover.

I’ve had this idea for ages and finally had everything to make it. It’s so fun and I’m debating making it a PDF pattern, once I learn how to do that.

Joanna and I had a great time brainstorming a crafty address for the envelope.

The air mail ribbon is available a few places on Etsy and I ordered some fabric covered in stamp images and cut out some fun ones.

My thrifting scores

I did very well on my last thrifting outting. We stopped at 3 stores and I found something awesome at each of them, and the whole thing cost me about $20.

First up was 2 of these great tupperware containers. I gave one to my bff because they’re so cute and she’s remodelling her kitchen and these will fit perfectly.

Then at our next stop I discovered this great lovely off white/light grey Samsonite bag.

THEN at the next stop I found this huge pile of Pyrex just sitting all lonely on a shelf! Two big bowls and an oval casserole dish.

These are a super awesome find because I already have 2 matching bowls at home. If my luck keeps up I might have a set some day.

Love

I found this fun little pattern a while back and planned on having it ready for Valentine’s Day but you know how things get. I managed to finish them on the weekend. Such a cute idea and really quick to complete. I changed things up, not following instructions exactly again and stitched mine on the sides.

Pattern and instructions here.
