Sponsors!

Well hello there! So is everyone as busy as I am? This week is just crazy. I’m having a Christmas-Birthday Extravaganza with my bff on Wednesday, Nate’s 3rd birthday party on Thursday, Nate’s actual birthday on Friday, the hubby’s Christmas with his family on Saturday, Christmas on Sunday and then at about 6pm we head off to a hotel to sleep for the night before we leave for our 6am flight on Monday!

Yipes, it’s stressing me out just to type it all. So let’s have some fun instead and take a few moments to browse around and visit some awesome ladies. I didn’t actually assign homework in this busy, busy month so I’ve just ran around and found some of the things I like best about my sponsors.

Krista from Thar She Sews!

I love this Baby’s First Ornament DIY! It can also be made for anyones anytime Christmas. There’s still a few days, get sewing!

I love the fact that it can be made with scraps!

Katy from The Funky Monkey here is her shop.
This giraffe hair clip holder is really cute . . . wonder if I could use it.

Janee from Yellow Bird Yellow Beard

I know I just made some soft blocks for a friend but how cool are these ones with this fun cloud pattern? I’m also crushing on George.

Sara from Sarbear’s Journey

I love this earring DIY Sara shares on her blog. It’s a new goal of mine to accessorize more and that’s lead me to the problem of storing said accessories. This is a great solution for earring overpopulation.

Faith over at the Bartering Blogger is just super giving. She’s always linking people, sharing the love and well, bartering. Pop on over if your RSS feed is in need of some more great blogs and creative ladies.

My photographer friend Joanna takes awesome pics (handy isn’t it) she’s got a lovely website and a Facebook page. We’ve been doing shows together and we’ve been making magnets too. She’s got a shop too but with a little wee baby at home she’s kinda busy. She took this great photo of Nate’s little toes when he was just 6 or so months old.

Hey girl

So usually my hubby knows all the goofy memes going around before I do, since he spends all day at a computer.  Last night I had the pleasure of filling him in on the Handmade Ryan Gosling site, which apparently is based on the plan Ryan Gosling memes that say “Hey girl” and aren’t about handmade items, which is based on some other silly meme . . . . Yeah whatever.  If you make things yourself, sell stuff at craft shows, have an online shop these pictures will be funny to you.

Plus, I’d never really noticed before but sometimes Ryan Gosling isn’t too bad to look at either.

Having sat at tables at craft fairs this one made me chuckle.

Multiple trips to the post office lately and convos/emails about shipping status makes me appreciate this one.

And this one’s just great, I wonder if Mr Gosling knows what baker’s twine is . . .

Winners!!

Woohoo!!! A big giant thank you to all the lovely people who popped over to my blog and left a lovely comment. I even got a few sweet emails as well.

So for my cup cozie giveaway the lucky winner is Bryanna!

For a 10 ounce bag of new to you fabric scraps the winner is Meredith!

And because I have a huge bin of fabric scraps and why not share the love I decided to choose a second winner, so congrats also goes out to Heather!

Emails coming in a few moments ladies.

I’m also being totally lazy and skipping on sharing my Create Along for this week, things have been so busy at work and home. I did not have time to crochet up those adorable slippers. However, we are going away for a week over the holidays and I just might take that project with me since it’s more portable than my sewing machine!

But for the next week I’m going to choose something pretty easy since we’re all busy and I’ll be going crazy with a Nate’s turning 3 party to organize, Christmas to organize and a trip to get ready for!  Let’s make one of these handy pincushions. The PDF won’t let me steal an image to put here but click on over and see what it looks like and if you can squeeze it into your busy week play along with me!

City of Craft fun.

On Saturday I headed into Toronto and volunteered at the City of Craft. If you happened to come to the event I was frantically trying to stamp hands and click that little people counter thingie at the same time. They give away swag bags to the first 100 people on Saturday morning. The doors opened at 11:00 and the bags were gone in about 5 minutes, seriously.

After my shift I wandered around the show and found these lovely ladies Have and Hold Design who were running a fun photobooth. Everyone seemed to be going in with a friend and getting super silly so I was a little hesitant at doing it but I was talked into it. That’s the fun shot they took.

I also picked up this great mitten lino print, I seem to be addicted to buying art lately. It’s by Katie Muth.

I regret not buying this one too.

Giveaways below if you haven’t already entered!

More productive procrastination

I went to my little corner of the basement fully intending to sew up a storm. But then I didn’t really feel like it, so I puttered around, and I tidied up, and I organized . . . in the end it left me with a really nice tidy space and I did eventually get to work.

Some fun handmade cards and posters.

Craft swap goodies and my favourite picture of my Dad. I have an unusual family tree.

Us at Stonehenge and my creative inspiration embroidery hoop I made.

More favourite pics of me and my parents. That black eraser says ‘Stonehenge ROCKS!’, makes me giggle every time I look at it.

Productive procrastination

The other night while I was avoiding some of the things I really should have been doing I decided to sew this little guy up. It’s one of Keyka Lou‘s free tutorials. I know I go on about her patterns a lot but I’m totally smitten with them and they’re fun, easy and lovely!

Here’s my Moleskine cover, it’s full of mushroomy goodness.

I even made use of one of my SewTara buttons for the first time. Just in case anyone isn’t sure who’s ideas are inside the little notebook in my purse, now they’ll know!

I’m also giving away 10 ounces of fabric scraps, enter that one here. I have a bit of an addiction and I’m sharing it with you. Here are some of my recent scrap acquisitions, you’ll get a random surprise pack made up of this and that (possibly with bits and pieces of what’s below)

Friday Create Along

Hello again! I managed to finish my soft blocks in time to package them up for the baby shower. I had to rush and take pictures moments before though so bear with me with these late afternoon winter in Canada shots.

They turned out really well. I even added a little bell inside so they jingle when you shake them.

I didn’t even make the connection that it was also Zaaberry’s tutorial for pattern weights that I sewed up a while back. The two projects are pretty much the same just one is squishier and has ribbon.

And for our next project this lovely little slippers. I used random.org to choose the lucky lady, and once again I wasn’t sure how to capture the image, really need to work on that. But it was number 9! So congrats to Nancy! I’m sad I can’t give this out to everyone, you were all so excited about it! It’s been a goal of mine to learn how to make PDF sewing patterns, maybe I’d be bad at it and just give them away all the time.

If you didn’t win you can still pop over to the shop and pick up a copy of your own for only a few dollars. Then go forth and crochet and come back and share!

Yipee!!

Well we usually do this travel-don’t travel cycle over the Holidays. We’ve kept it up for a while US, home, England/Portugal, home, home (Nate was born December 23rd), England/Spain, home and now this year will be Belize!

The terrible bit is our flight leaves on December 23rd at 6am and so we have to be awake at ridiculous o’clock. Making traveling with a 5 and newly 3 year old less fun than it would have been!

However, that said, while I’m enjoying some hopefully nice warm sunny weather I’m not sure what sort of internet connection I will have and I could use some guest posts!! I usually don’t post on the weekend so that means I need 5 people to be brave and send me some fun posts. It could be about the holiday aftermath, new year plans, recipies, goals/resolutions, whatever, just something fun so tumble weeds don’t blow through my blog while I’m away.

Let me know if you’re interested, if you haven’t already.
