Happy bonus weekend day!

Well, that is if you’re like me and lucky enough to get a day off today.

I’m attempting to catch up on orders and projects and emails and laundry . . . .
It’s a gorgeous day so I haven’t seen my children in hours, they’re house hopping around the neighbourhood playing with various other school-less children. Isn’t warm sunny weather great!

Happy Monday everyone.

Pooped

I just got home from all day at work, followed by hours of getting ready and running an event, followed by coming home and doing the bedtime routine. It’s now ending at the couch, with me in my jammies and some technology by my side. I’m too tired for anything, except chuckling at this from one of the recent Etsy emails, yeah my inbox has been neglected.

Listing is here. You’re welcome.

There’s a cotton candy machine in my van

Really there is.

I’m going to bed early to be all bright eyed and busy tailed for tomorrow.
I work in the am and then I’ve got to juggle my children around a bit while setting up for community day. It’s going to be one crazy day for me!

Pendants galore.

I’ve been trying different things to use scraps to make pendants. I haven’t had much success with finding a way that works but I think I have now.

I haven’t enjoyed attempting it with Modge Podge, often there’s bubbles no matter what I try so I was happy to find these pendant frames. Sadly I only bought 5. Time to reorder.

Challenge accepted.

Lately I’ve been bothered by unfinished projects lying around. They sort of eat at the back of my head and nibble away, annoying me. It’s sort of like how you make resolutions, or unrealistic goals and they end up just bothering you rather than inspiring you. This weekend it’s been my scrap bin that’s driving me batty.

Last night I had the idea to sew from my scrap bin all week. I didn’t set a Create Along goal for Friday since this week is busy for me but I do vow to go to my scrap bin for every project I tackle.

See it’s HUGE! I’ll keep you posted.

Friday Create Along

Here’s my cute little door stop from this tutorial over on Mollie Makes!

I filled it with rice we had lying around, which from what I know about making bean bags, is fine unless the rice gets cooked somehow. It can even get wet but will be fine once it dries.

Annnnd now I’m not choosing another project for next week since I have to finish planning and run my school’s Community Day next week. Usually our Community Day is a big fundraiser for our school and the money goes to help pay for things like graduation, the next year’s Community Day, etc. This year my school is the lucky recipient of a national award from Let Them Be Kids. On Saturday, June 9th our staff, students, parents and community will be pulling together and working hard all day to erect 2 play structures in our school yard. Current our school yard has nothing but pavement and a small patch of grass, this will be such a big amazing change for us. If you’re local and want to help, or are feeling generous and can make a donation, you can follow the links for more info.

WIP

I should be making loads of new stock. Instead I’ve been sidetracked by making a new table cloth for my craft shows.

I ran out of doilies. But the beauty of this project is that it looks pretty awesome the way it is. I was planning on going all the way up so that the entire hanging down part of the sheet was covered in doilies. I’ve got to run off thrifting.

I usually use bright crazy coloured vintage sheets but I think my bright products will show up better on a more neutral background. I’ll take some photos at Saturday’s show and let you know. If you live in Peterborough come by the public library on Saturday afternoon, I’ll be hanging out there!

Oh hi!

Riiiight I have a blog. Not sure what’s been going on here for me but I just haven’t found the time in a day to actually get a post going. It’s probably the fact that I’m single handedly running my school’s fun fair/community day next week and I’ve been going a bit crazy with planning.

But I’m here now, and the silly thing is it’s not even with a crafty post. I know I’m terrible.

I’m dreaming of this bike.
It’s adorable.
The colour is Dark Cherry.
It’s an adult trike.
It has no gears which makes it lame in the eyes of my hubby.
It’s an adult trike which makes it awesome to me.
Perfect for riding to the lake with the kids, or the park, or the library, or the pool . . .

Friday Create Along

Here are my fat quarter produce bags from the Sew Mama Sew tutorial.

I couldn’t find utility mesh, as the pattern called for, but the nice lady at Fabricland helped me out and what I ended up using is a meshy drapery fabric. Hey it works.

I’m not sure yet how these will work being weighed at the grocery store, or if they’re see thru enough to be used, but we hit the farmers market all summer and these would be great to separate our fruits and veggies instead of tossing them all into the same sack. I promised my hubby I’d make some manly ones.

Next up is this this fun door stops from Mollie Makes. With warmer weather coming some of our doors like to slam shut with the ‘down by the lake’ breeze we get moving through our upstairs. This outta fix that!

Fun at ‘the teacher store’

I took my kids to ‘the teacher store’ the other day for a bit of a play. It’s actually Scholar’s Choice but ‘the teacher store’ is what most of us at school call it. My kids used to call it ‘the Thomas store’ becuase there was a Thomas table and loads of engines but now those have been replaced with a Chuggington table so there was some confusion on the weekend as to what we should call it now.

While the kids were playing I did some wandering around and came across these awesome stickers. The simple design and whole vintage feel of them is great.

I have no clue right now what I’m going to use them for but I do know that as a teacher I couldn’t pass them up and as a crafter I really couldn’t resist them. I can’t wait to put them to good use on some sort of project.
