Oh hello again

I think I’ve been having some trouble getting out of ‘cottage’ mode. I apologize. Here’s the winner of the 3 Mabel’s Labels tag mates and stickers.

Here’s a play by play of the very technical choosing. I think I interrupted something.

“Hey Nate can you help Mommy?”

Stare

“Pick a piece of paper please”

“This one Mommy”

Annnnnd back to playing.

The whole thing took about 10 seconds. Congrats to Nancy for winning the Mabel’s Labels day 3 giveaway.

1, 2, 3, Mabel’s Labels giveaway day 3.

Well I’m sad that today is the last day of my fun Mabel’s Labels giveaway. Today is the day to enter if you have 3 little people in your life who could use some amazing personalized labels for some of their very “I don’t want to lose it” stuff! I also have to say that yesterday’s winner is Heather! Cece and Hannah are going to look quite smashing going back to school in style.

This has been so much fun and I’d like to thank the lovely people at Mabel’s Labels for working with me to ship the items straight to the winners, honestly, this company/product is awesome!

Please head over to Mabel’s Labels and leave me a message letting me know the names of your 2 little people and what colours/designs you would like!

Once again, the giveaway closes at midnight when I pick the lucky winner!

1,2,3 Mabel’s Labels giveaway Day 2!

Okie, so I fancily wrote everyone’s name on a little slip of paper and tossed them into an empty plastic green strawberry basket and pulled out Laura C’s name! Congrats Laura, looks like Chrissy can at least have her things returned to her should she lose them!

That means today my friends, is the day to enter if you have 2 little special people in your life who could use an awesome Canadian made personalized product to label some of their very important stuff! Have 3 important little people in your life? Uhhh, come back tomorrow then.

Please head over to Mabel’s Labels and leave me a message letting me know the names of your 2 little people and what colours/designs you would like!

Giveaway closed at midnight when I pick the lucky winner!

Also, if you happen to sew or craft at all today is the last day to sign up for my fabric scrap swap, come play!

1, 2, 3, Mabel’s labels giveaway!

Hello there, so here’s my first venture into the world of a video blog. I figured I’d make it a fun giveaway and that way people won’t notice the silliness. Please excuse the over use of the word “um”, I did 2 takes and it didn’t get any better so, um, oh well.

Here’s the link to Mabel’s Labels so you can see all their nifty products. Here’s where you go to design your own Loot Bag Combo Builder, it shows you a proof right there.

Remember today’s winner gets 1 set of personalized labels and a Tag Mate. This is open to everyone world wide. Please only enter once.

***OOOPS There was some technical difficulty loading this video yesterday so I had to work around what I had planned. Soooo the giveaway was bumped a day (I don’t have a nice quiet house to re-shoot). When I say “Friday” is the last day, it’s now Saturday. Sorry about that***

Leave your comments below and good luck!

And the lucky couple is . . .

Number 11 Jen and Alex!

An email has been sent your way Jen!

Sorry everyone else, however, on a fun note I’ve decided to do monthly giveaways featuring stuff from some cool Etsy sellers so just you wait until August!

There’s been an Etsy error in your favour.

For the past few occasions I’ve been making treasury lists on Etsy to share with my hubby and nudge him with gift ideas. It worked for Mother’s day and I was rewarded with some fun goodies including one of these.

Allison Cole is the super awesome lady behind these fun designs. She has other prints and items in her Etsy shop.

This reusable shopping bag makes me giggle.

A few weeks after my print arrived a package from Allison arrived at my hubby’s work, again. Turns out she sent 2. I often wonder if I’ve done that with a cozy here and there, it’s hard to get lost in the management of shipped and unshipped. So I wrote Alison an email and said I could send it back or give it away and draw some attention to her awesomeness. Lucky for you that’s what we decided!

Leave a comment by Sunday night, I’ll cut off at midnight and then announce the winner on Monday. Here’s your homework tell me your name and the name of your meant-to-be-honey.

Pandas and pouches oh my!

Let’s ramble shall we?

I made another coin purse, as I was mentioning the other day, I’m really excited with how it turned out. I kinda sorta drafted the pattern myself using the store bought pattern for the small purse and all I went well!

I used a really fun cotton & linen blend, a Japanese prints from my fabric crush drawer. Inside I used a random cotton FQ I had lying around. Sewing the hardware on is a bit tricky, apparently they have glue on frames but somehow I feel like that’s cheating. I’ll stick with my tricky, finger reddening, slightly pain inflicting stitching.

And under the category of sharing the love Thursday has a GINORMOUS giveaway going on right now to celebrate her 1000 followers. Head over and enter part 1, part 2 and part 3. I contributed a cup cozy to the pile o loot.

A fit of giggles.

SMS Giveaway post is here or scroll down.

I slept for about 9 hours, can you tell?

I was ridiculously tired yesterday. I stayed up late for the entire weekend, basically 1am each day. Good thing Monday was a holiday! I tried to go to bed early that night but since it was Giveaway Day I got distracted entering on blog all over, then poking around some blogs, adding some to my reader . . . . you know.

So then comes Tuesday morning and it was our Yucky Early Day, which means it’s the day I teach the whole day, we have to be up and out first thing in the morning. After all the late nights and a full day at work I was pretty useless yesterday evening. I kept doing that, “Why am I standing in this room?”, “What was I looking for in the fridge?” and such. My BFF was over to help me put buttons on 50 or so cup cozies. I’ve been working away for a charity thing she helps organize and that’s why I’ve been a mad crafting machine lately.

Numerous times I said I was “Sooooo tired” and both she and my hubby would yell out, “go to bed!!” but it wasn’t even 9 yet! I refuse to go to bed if it’s not an acceptable adult bed time. She tried to argue that’s the point of being an adult. I said that only applies to fun things like ice cream for breakfast. She left around 8:45 yelling for me to go to bed as she was getting into her car. I gathered my iDevices and told my hubby I was going up to bed.

“Leave the laptop”
“No, I need to approve comments and send an email. Can you finish loading the dishwasher and run it?”
“If you leave the laptop”
“Can I have a kiss goodnight?”
“If you leave the laptop”
I took the lappy upstairs with me.

Then at about 9:25 I realized hubby would see I had the lamp on still so I shut it off and decided to just read through my Google Reader and then go to sleep. Then I heard footsteps at about 9:35 and I hurried to shut my laptop.

“NO!” says hubby storming into the room, in the dark “Give me the laptop!”. He starts grabbing for it and takes it right out of my hands.
Here I start to giggle.
“Give me the iPad too!”
“NoooOOoo It’s charging, Wesley was playing on it. Leave it!”
“Go to bed!! What are you 6?!” he storms out with my laptop
“Plug it in” I yell after him through a fit of giggles.

I wish I had audio of it all, it was pretty funny.

Happy Giveaway Day! CLOSED

In the spirit of Giveaway Day, organized by SewMamaSew, I’m going to give away gave away, one of my new cozy designs!
This one fits in with the whole theme of the day and is all about supporting handmade goodies.

Also, since I’ve organized another scrap swap recently I’ll throw some fun little scraps into the package too.

Simply leave a comment below! Bonus smiles from me if you say something nice.
Giveaway is open to everyone everywhere mail gets delivered until May 25th!

**WOW I have never had this many comments on one post! Does that make me seem lame? Oh well. I usually write out names on paper and choose one when I have a giveaway, don’t think that’s going to work this time.
It’s been so great reading all these comments, thanks for all your kind words. I love all the people noticing it’s a Timmy’s cup!

Some questions have popped up in the comments, here are some answers,
– That is not my sewing machine, sadly, it’s LAs and she took the photo
– You can use your cozy on tea. Coffee is evil (well in my opinion) but my cozies don’t explode when interacting with it or anything
– I’d love to include cookies with your cozy but not sure that’d work in the mail. They are yummy little gems with hidden chick pea goodness from the Deceptively Delicious cookbook. I baked them for the photo shoot and they are sadly, long gone.
– Happy birthday if it was recently/is your birthday *please note that doesn’t mean you automagically win* sorry

I’ve been bouncing around all the other blogs and there’s some great prizes out there, and wonderful blogs. So happy I joined up this year, not sure how I missed it last year. Also really glad today was a holiday for me, it gave me time to click and comment!
Please feel free to add me on Twitter, follow me on Pinterest or come back again. I’d love to keep seeing everyone.

Happy Tuesday

Hello if you’re popping over from My Girl Thursday! If you aren’t, head on over there’s a big giveaway right now.

I’m ridiculously excited about something I made on the weekend. Which is kinda funny since it’s made from garbage. I’ve had this idea for months and finally got around to making myself one.

Back at the beginning of my blog I took apart my hubby’s beloved travelling backback. He was throwing it out and I figured those buckles and straps would come in handy some day. Turns out I was right. I used the clasp, a D ring and the other little thingie that makes the strap adjustable. I was on a role Sunday making this and realised I didn’t have any new straping so I decided to use what I had from that backpack. Note: Don’t use 10 year old backpack straps on new creations.

It holds a ton, and can handle weight, that I knew already from my beach bag. There’s my ipad, purse organizer, coin purse (all made by me), wallet and a few other things.

I hung the bag on the hook overnight full of all my things for work, including my camera to take pics. Then as I walked out the door wearing it the strap broke. So I quickly resewed it. It broke again. It was so brittle it was just snapping. I tried to tie it in a knot just to make due and get to work and it just snapped each time. So last night I replaced the strap with new materials after a stop at the sewing store on the way home.
